Berlin wool work textile hanging
17th Century

There was a large vertical and horizontal tear along the central area. The hanging was wet cleaned after dye fastness tests. It was then blocked out, given a full support allowing the edges to be rejoined using a tapestry warping technique and lined with a sympathetic lining.
